TNEA Eligibility

The TNEA 2021 application form will start from May 2021. These applicants will be eligible to be admitted to Anna University to complete their engineering programs, only they can complete the TNEA application form.

Applicants must pass the twelfth jury examination with well-scored grades to be admitted to this university. Applicants must get the correct grades in three subjects and this subject is known as physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Nativity Criteria

  • These applicants will belong to the state of Tamil Nadu and will qualify as Class VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII in the state, only they will be eligible for admission.
  • Candidates domiciled in Tamil Nadu must have taken one of Class VII, IX, X, XI, and XII exams or any other equivalent out-of-state exam, so that they can also apply as long as they attach the Nativity certificate in electronic format / digitally signed electronic certificate.
  • These candidates working as senior officers in the All India Service District in Tamil Nadu can apply for admission.
  • At least one of the applicant’s parents must be employed in a public sector or an institution for five years recognized by the government of Tamil Nadu.
  • A certificate from the employer must be attached with the application form indicating the duration and details of employment.
  • These applicants are from other states, they studied their class VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII in Tamil Nadu are also considered eligible for admission. They do not need to present a birth certificate.

Sri Lankan Refugee

These Sri Lankan refugees studied in Tamil Nadu; will be considered for admission to an open contest provided that they accompany the following certificates:

  • Tahsildar Headquarters Identity Certificate
  • Students who have not registered in the refugee camp will need to present a copy of their passport, a letter registered at the police station, and a visa.

Academics Qualification

The qualification of interested applicants must meet the following defined criteria regarding academic qualification to be eligible for admission:

  • Applicants must pass the H.S.C exam or an equivalent exam with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as core subjects.
  • These candidates will be from the backward class, including the backward Muslim class; they must obtain an average of 45% in the subjects mentioned above.
  • There is a 10% relaxation for candidates belonging to the MBC, DNC, SC, ST, and SCA categories and the qualification exam; they must get a minimum of 40%.
  • Applicants must have passed HSC (Vocational Subjects) with one of the subjects, namely Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics are also eligible for admission.
  • Applicants must achieve an average grade point percentage similar to that defined for students taking the HSC or equivalent test mentioned above.

Marine Engineering Branch

  • Candidates must be scored on the qualifying exam with at least 60% of the total scores in PCM and English as a particular subject.
  • Candidates must have obtained at least 50% of the points in English in class X or XII.
  • Applicants must not be over 25 years old.
  • Weight and height must also be at least 48 kilograms and 157 centimeters respectively. They must also have normal color vision.

Mining Engineering Branch

Applicants wishing to apply for this course should consider the following:

  • Under the 1952 Mining Act, 46 (1) women are not eligible to work (a) in any part of a mine that is underground; (b) in any above-ground mine, except between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • According to the Coal Mining Regulations of 1957, 86 (2) no adolescent or woman may descend or ascend a well in a cage or other means of transportation unless he is accompanied by one or more adult men.
  • Applicants must also meet all the academic requirements mentioned above.
