IIT JAM 2021 Eligibility Requirements and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQ) for Admission

On qualifying diploma, aggregate grades, or CGPA / IPC without rounding. Cut (taking into account all subjects, including language and subsidiaries, all years combined must be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General / OBC (NCL) / EWS Applicants and 50% or 5.0 of 10 for SC / ST and PwD applicants (if CGPA / CPI is on a different scale, it would be linearly mapped to a 10 point scale).

General Eligibility Criteria of IIT JAM

Before completing the application form, the candidate must check the eligibility criteria, given below

  • Before applying, the candidate must have obtained a Bachelor of Science from a recognized university.
  • Remote graduate candidates can also apply for this exam.
  • Applicants who belong to the General or OBC category must have graduated with at least 55% of the marks, but applicants who belong to the reserved category must pass 50% of the marks.
  • Both Indian and foreign applicants can apply for this exam.
  • These candidates who have appeared or are expected to take the qualification exam in 2021 are also eligible.

IIT JAM 2021 Requirments Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who qualify for JAM 2021 will need to meet the following Eligibility Requirements (RE) to be admitted to IIT.

  • All candidates admitted by JAM must have a bachelor’s degree.
  • On the qualifying diploma, overall or CGPA / IPC scores without rounding (taking into account all subjects, including languages ​​and affiliates, all years combined) must be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for applicants of the General / OBC (NCL) / EWS categories, and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for applicants in the SC / ST and PwD categories.
  • Foreign nationals with degrees from India can apply, subject to the policy of the admissions institute.
  • If the CGPA / IPC is on a different scale, it will be linearly mapped to a scale of 10.

For applicants with CGPA / alphabetic scores (instead of percentage points), the admitted institute will decide the percentage of equivalency of scores.

The proof of having successfully completed the Diploma of Qualification with Minimum Training Qualifications (MEQ) as specified by the admission institute must be submitted before September 30, 2021.

At the time of admission, all admitted applicants are required to present a certificate of physical fitness from a licensed physician on the prescribed form. At the time of admission, admitted candidates can also undergo a physical fitness test by a medical commission established by the admissions institute. In the event that it is considered that a candidate is not physically fit to follow the chosen study program, their admission may be canceled.

  • The Admissions Institute has the right to cancel, at any time, the admission of a candidate recognized as admitted to a course to which he or she is not entitled, not qualified, or not eligible in accordance with the rules and regulations in force.
