Applicants who are curious about accessing the degree program in polytechnics will find the concept of entrance exam at the Assam Polytechnic PAT 2021 or Assam Polytechnic level that is managed by the decision of the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education).
This entrance examination is held annually to find admission to the Assam State Polytechnic High School. Assam Polytechnic PAT 2021 is run by DTE, Assam.
Assam PAT is a polytechnic exam that is held once a year to offer candidates admission to polytechnic degree courses. Applicants who are eligible for the examination will be offered admission at various universities or polytechnics located in the state of Assam.
Assam Polytechnic 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Contents
To be eligible for admission to diploma courses, the applicant must meet the following conditions
- You must take and qualify for the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) for admission to degree courses offered by the State Council for Technical Education, Assam for the corresponding academic session, as notified by DTE, Assam.
- To be admitted to diploma courses, the candidate must pass the H.S.L.C. or its equivalent exam with Mathematics and Science as a compulsory subject with
- 40% grades (on average) in math and science for general candidates.
- 35% grades (on average) in math and science for SC applicants.
- 33% scores (on average) in math and science for C&T applicants.
Age Limit:
In the table given below, the age criteria for various categories are provided:

- Medical Standard – A candidate must be physically and mentally healthy and must meet the minimum physical standard.
- Residential Eligibility: Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam.
Reservation of Seats
Subjects to maintaining the qualifying standards and other eligibility conditions for reservation of seats in the Polytechnics of Assam are made for the following categories of candidates of the State of Assam (subject to amendment as per Government decision).
- Scheduled Caste,
- Scheduled Tribes (Plains),
- Scheduled Tribes (Hills),
- B.C. (including M.O.B.C.),
- Moran Community,
Candidates must fulfill the condition as stated in Point No. 6.
- Sons/Daughters/Grand Sons/Grand Daughters of Freedom Fighters (both Paternal and Maternal): Candidates must fulfill the conditions as stated in serial No. 6.
- Tea Garden and Ex-tea-garden Labour Community (within the limit allocation of O.B.C.) in all Polytechnics except RGP, Diphu & ATI. Candidates must fulfill the condition as stated in serial No. 6.
- Sportspersons: Candidates must fulfill the conditions as stated in serial No. 6.
- C.: Candidates must fulfill the conditions as stated in serial No. 6.
- Sons and daughters of Retired Defence Personnel: Candidates must fulfill the condition as stated in Point No. 6.
- Physically Handicapped- Candidates must fulfill the condition as stated in Point No. 6.
78 Child of employees of public sector companies of the central government and the central government who provide services in the state and who are not permanent residents of Assam, but are posted to Assam up to five years before the last date set for applying. Applicants must meet the conditions set out in serial number 6.
Note 4: Candidates who apply in this category must attach the corresponding supporting documents duly signed by the competent authority. For example, (i) your parents are not permanent residents of Assam, but from another state in the country, (ii) your parents’ period of service in Assam as a central government/company employee. (iii) Certificate from the school/university the candidate last attended.
7.9 Candidates from other States and Territories of the Union against seats reserved by the Government of India and duly appointed by the State / Territory of the Union concerned.
Note 5: According to government instructions, certain reserved seats can be obtained, if
Reserved positions remain vacant for lack of eligible candidates, positions are filled in order of merit among candidates in the unqualified category.
Note 6: If Tea Garden and Ex-Tea Garden Worker Community Candidates are
available, then 1 seat is allocated for each of the two categories.
Selection Process For NCC & Sports Quota
All the eligible candidates are finalized by a Committee consisting of the following members
- DTE, Assam Chairman.
- Director of Sports Member.
- Director of NCC Member.
- One Principal of Polytechnics on rotation basis Member.
- Controller of Examination, SCTE Member Secretary.
For NCC Quota:
The candidate must present a photocopy of the N.C.C. Examination certificate from the issuing authority in the rank, not lower than Deputy Director General of National Cadet Corps, Ministry of Defense, Government of India. The certificate of merit (NCC certificate) issued by the director of the institution/colleges/school will not be accepted.
During the council, a candidate must present the original certificate of the issuing authority, that is, the issuing authority in the rank not lower than the deputy. Director-General of the National Cadet Corps, Ministry of Defense, Government of India. Applicants must meet the condition set out in serial number 6.
Considering the merit for the selection of candidates of the NCC category would be as below.
- The certificate would be treated in order of merit as-
- “C” certificate with Grading “A”
- “C” certificate with Grading “B”
- “B” certificate with Grading “A”
- “B” certificate with Grading “B”
- “A” certificate with Grading “A”
- “A” certificate with Grading “B”
- Candidates are asked to submit the documents of attendance if any.
If nos. of applicants applying against N.C.C. quota seats and their certificates
have the same rank, then the merit will be decided by taking the admissions test scores, even if there is a score, the qualifying exam science and math scores will be taken to decide the merit of applicants. If there is a tie, then by lottery by the president of the selection committee.
For Sports Quota :
The medal winner of the State Games / State Championships / Tournaments organized by the Assam Olympic Association / State Sports Association / Sports and Youth Welfare Directorate, Assam.
The merits will be decided in order of medals: – Gold / Silver / Bronze received in the aforementioned event. Applicants must receive a medal at least at the state level within the three years before their appearance on the polytechnic admission test.
If there is a tie, the prizes are equal [Gold / Silver / Bronze] or no candidate obtains a prize, the merit will be decided to take into account the marks obtained in the polytechnic admission test, although if there is a tie, the qualification exam scores science and math will be considered in determining the merit of the candidate.
Again, if there is a tie, then through a lottery organized by the president of the selection committee. Applicants must meet the condition outlined in serial number 6
For admission against Sports / N.C.C. quota reserved for Assam State Polytechnics, applicants are invited to apply for appearing in
- Bonuses for the child of the department employees. of technical education, Assam. Bonus scores at 5%, 6.25%, 7.5%, and 10% will be awarded to applicants who are children of employees/retirees under the technical education guide, Assam for grades I, II, III, and IV according to Government, order n ETE-52/79 / B, dtd. Dispur, August 10, 1979, and this office Amended Ordinance No. TE (Ex) Admn-2/2014 / pt-1 / 647-60, dt 7/4/14. They are requested to apply to the corresponding Institute. within 10 days of the PAT, the exam starts to date.

Since the new 11 (eleven) nos. The polytechnics will begin to operate from the 2017-2018 academic session with the existing polytechnic, therefore, according to the reservation policy, the number of places will also be increased with the prior approval of the Assam government.
